Press Releases:
2nd April 2009: After a year of fun, friendship and fundraising, BLC celebrate presenting more than £3,000 to local charities. £1,500 to Buxton Mountain Rescue, £1,500 to Charis House, and £300 to Francis House Children's Hospice.
1st November 2008: Bonfire Night was a huge success - BLC supported the Round Table event and catered for the thousands who came along on the evening. We made around £800 for our chosen charities.
October/November 2008: Bangers are on the menu this bonfire night thanks to BLC! The women are preparing to serve around 1,000 hotdogs and burgers at Buxton’s annual firework display next weekend (1st November). It’s the first time they’ve taken on such a challenge and “head chef” Susanne Howe admits it’ll be a tough task: “Up to 4,000 people are expected on the night, and we’ll have to work fast to cut any queuing. We think our hot drinks will be popular too, and have enough to serve 800.”
September 2008: BLC challenge anyone else to an adventurous fundraising event - if they can match what the Ladies achieved in the cave, they'll give them all their Go-Outdoors camping gear (only used once!) WHY NOT EMAIL THEM?
21st August 2008: Ladies go behind the scenes at Buxton Mountain Rescue, and see where our money is going.
12th July 2008: WE SURVIVE THE NIGHT IN POOLE'S CAVERN! It was a cold (a constant 7C) and very damp night. The Ladies didn't get much sleep, even though they heard just one bump in the night... And in the morning we manage to make a special delivery of goodies to Charis House.
11th July 2008: THE LADIES BRAVE THE CAVE!! They go underground for the night in aid of local charities. Will they bump into the ghost of Poole himself? Or will it be any bats and rats down there that get to them first??!!
7th July 2008: "Go Outdoors" announce their support for BLC, and sponsor a base camp for our sleep-over in Poole's Cavern.
1st July 2008: BLC goes "back-to-basics" and bake cakes for Buxton Senior Citizens Club.
30th June 2008: Terrified ladies are preparing for an underground sleep-over in Poole’s Cavern (Fri. 11th July). It’s the first time anyone has spent the whole night in its chambers for as long as 5,000 years, since Neolithic tribes regularly used it as a shelter.
5th June 2008: BLC enjoy a night go-karting at Harpur Hill. Great fun for everyone, even if they did lose to Round Table!
